Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). After moving to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma chose to become an actor in the age of six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach performances and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was the film of 2001 adaption to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was made in 1999. Emma was found by agents via an Oxford teacher. After the eight auditions, the producer David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast to play the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It set new records for first-day openings and weekday openings and became the top-grossing movie in 2001. The film received praise from reviewers, and so were the performances of its three stars. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance received nominations and won five awards later for the movie.
